JTB at Croton Summerfest!

  • Journey to Birth

Join your neighbors on Sunday and let the summer fun begin!  The Midwives from Journey to Birth will have a table set up.  Come say hi!

Summer in Croton is about to kick off with it's 31st Annual Summerfest Celebration. As always the first Sunday in June, June 4th, Summerfest starts with the annual Community and Fireman’s Parade. The parade steps off at 12:45pm and begins at Veteran’s Corners and ends in the upper Village.

The community parade will be lead by the Hendrick Hudson High School marching band and will include Village officials and department heads, youth sports teams, nursery schools, cub scouts, girl scouts and other community groups.

The Fireman’s parade will spotlight the all-volunteer fire personnel and their equipment along with the Croton Emergency Medical Service (EMS).

The heart of Summerfest is the street fair on Grand And Old Post Roads. Vendors offering a wide array of goods and services line the streets. Food vendors offer a wide range of gastronomic delights to satisfy all appetites.

Come and enjoy the heart of the Upper Village on June 4th!

Why Not Home? A FREE Documentary Film Screening

  • Croton Free Library

"Why Not Home?" is a recently released documentary that explores the reasons that home birth is becoming an increasingly  popular choice.  The film focuses on doctors, nurses and midwives who attend births in hospitals yet have made the choice to have planned home births for themselves.

Susan Schmidt, CNM and Cathy Gallagher, CNM will host the screening and moderate a panel discussion with women who have recently given birth at home.  Susan and Cathy became friends years ago while bonding over having had Cesarean births with their first babies.  Both women went on to subsequently have beautiful planned home births for their younger children.  Their personal experiences inspired them to become Doulas and then Midwives. They have years of experience attending births at hospitals, birthing centers and in clients homes.  Their current work at Journey to Birth focuses on providing holistic well women care as well as enhanced prenatal care and attending planned home births.
